Jim Deskevich founded Variegated in the Spring of 2001, to create a line of bedding and
accessories with a strong sense of graphic aesthetic and intense saturated colors.
In the Fall of 2002, Jim teamed up with Corbett Marshall who had recently completed his
MFA in 2D Design at Cranbrook Academy of Art. The two met in undergraduate school,
while studying graphic design at The North Carolina State University College of Design.
Both Jim and Corbett share a passion for creating gardens with an emphasis on texture and
unusual color combinations. This attention to shape and color in the natural world serves
as an important inspiration for Variegated.
Variegated will continue to offer new combinations in bedding and accessories each season,
and will be adding new products to the line every year, including such items as tabletop
accessories and furniture. And even personal accessories such as handbags and t-shirts.
Variegated is now based in a converted 19th century dress factory in Hudson, New York, where
Jim and Corbett now live and work.
Their work has been commisioned by the W Hotel, Seoul, Korea, and the Hyatt,
in Chicago. They are well documented in national fashion and home magazines.
